Good or Bad - Nothing Lasts Forever, by: Terry Christopher

Terry Christopher

I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe.

Dalai Lama

I’ve got some good news and some bad news so which would you like to hear first? Life is really living between two completely polar opposites of Good and Bad. We deem experiences that make us feel bad, low, depressed, lacking etc… a bad experience. Experiences that bring to us a sense of success, completion, elevation etc…designate a good experience. But what if we turned those experiences deemed “bad” as growing experiences because that is TRULY what they are. You might ask HOW in the world is this guy taking the talking point of a bad experience being a good one. That just makes no sense. The train of thought is that in ALL experiences there is a lesson and even the bad ones, espeically the bad ones, set out to teach us, guide us and help us grow as souls in constant evolution. There is one component that ONLY WE can provide which is to SEEK OUT THE LESSON.

It’s true the saying that goes “If you are going through Hell, keep going!” The point in this saying is do NOT stop where you are because each of us has gone through a specific moment or extended time period that was awful, painful, stressful and seemingly empty of any value.. However, we find that those moments are the ones that test our sense of self, perseverance, inner strength, spiritual grounding and ultimately though we lean on and reach out to our friends, it’s each of us in the experience of being one whole person to see our way through it. It will not last forever.

On the opposite side of the life experience spectrum are moments that overflow with a bounty of goodness, riches of positive vibes, good energy, good people, amazing growth that doesn’t feel like nails on the chalk board. It’s being able to recognize those moments that means we each are evolving in the lessons as they come. Knowing that you are in a GREAT place to recognize and enjoy the labor of your work, toil, sweat and tears, means that you are growing in your sense of self and understanding the process of the soul’s evolution. However, as difficult as it is to write, that amazing feeling of self won’t last forever either as the next lesson with a different shade of a lesson comes into the horizon down the line and just ahead.

This life is about experiencing the process, the life interactions that bring us together in the evolution to learn, to teach, to share and to grow. The process is never fixed so again, when you are going through Hell…keep going. When you get to the summit after all the work, take it all in and remember where you were, where you are and how you got there. Neither the good nor bad will last forever in order to keep us dreaming, reaching, living and doing.

Enjoy the journey and look for the lessons.

Dream. Reach. Live. Do.

Ro's Notes:

Throughout our lives problems will arise, sometimes we suffer mentally and sometimes physically.  But these obstacles can actually be used as stepping stones towards improving ourselves.  It is very important not to give up or to become discouraged, or hopeless, but to face up to difficulties.    It also really helps to remember that everybody suffers.  Increasing our awareness of the suffering of others, and having compassion for them, gives us a sense of  perspective.  Developing a warm heart towards others also generates peace of mind.    As His Holiness the Dalai Lama says:
Thus we can strive gradually to become more compassionate, that is we can develop both genuine sympathy for others' suffering and the will to help remove their pain. As a result, our own serenity and inner strength will increase.
Now go out and live your extraordinary life, knowing that I love you.  Take the good with the bad - it is all about the journey . . .

Love,

Ro
